The Old Man of Storr is an iconic pinnacle summit on the Isle of Syke. It is a steep 2km, 350m climb to the viewpoint (Pixabay) from the car park which was made more difficult in full blown Arctic conditions; sub-zero temperatures and howling wind. Even more so as the hike up needs to be started well before dawn in the darkness. Crampons and a head torch were essential. But the effort was rewarded with a spectacular sunrise.
