From Helvellyn a short walk lead to Swirral edge. This was a more tricky prospect than Striding Edge as it was steep and narrow and the gusts were getting stronger. We made our way down and just after we arrived at a flat bit before heading to Castye Cam a huge gust of wind lifted the three of us off our feet. That would have been a different prospect on Striding Edge or Swirral Edge ! A short trek lead to this summit marked with a few stones. The descent continued to Red Tarn where the start of Striding Edge began and it was a straightforward walk back down to Patterdale. A few pints of Wainwrights in the excellent White Lion Inn in Patterdale followed Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/B2518/comment/22208/
