One of the finest of the summits surrounding the Road to the Isles , Sgurr Ghiubhsachain is a walking challenge commensurate with the difficulty of pronouncing its name. A circuitous route to find and then follow the south shore of Loch Shiel gives way to a long (it starts at sea level) tough, scrambly grind up the mountain's north ridge.

It's not a Munro which guarantees that it'll never become one for the tourists (despite featuring in a couple of the Harry Potter films), but it's highly recommended for the connoisseur anyway. Linkback:
