The Lure of a Distillery
by Pepe 26 Sep 2022
The X10 bus from Glasgow stops at the distillery gates mentioned by Fergal, making this a handy option if you're carless in Scotland. When you've crossed the field and find yourself at the place of two stiles do not take the obvious central trail up. Take the fainter trail on your left - it's a gentler gradient.
About 80% of the way to the top there's a junction of paths. A fellow walker advised me not to take the direct route up. "It's too severe," he said. "Take the track to the right around the side and up."
Good advice because Dumgoyne does Steepness with a capital S. Up top I considered tackling a few more steepnesses to nearby hills, but as I sat at the summit delicious aromas wafted up from the distillery below - that made my mind up what to do next. Short trek to summit
by Fergalh 11 Mar 2021
On the A81 Parked on minor Road just past Dumgoyne Distillery. Followed road up to T junction than took track for Dumgoyne which is a splendid Hill. A short steep climb up rounded top leads to a a summit marked with a large standing stone. Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/B12822/comment/22570/
