This name is pronounced 'yokawn'. It is of obscure origin, but may refer to a pole or mast on the summit. It may have a parallel in Gokane Point, a headland south of Skibbereen. Feaghmaan East and West are townlands on the slopes of Geokaun.
Geokaun is the 1243th highest place in Ireland. Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/988/
