New Comment: Magical views
by Conor-na-Cnic  4 Jul 2018
We usually start this steep, but rewarding short hike from the field gate opposite the caravan site at the top of Ballymacarry Rd, Buncrana (turn left at Tank Rd T-junction). A quick flit through a couple of sheep fields and then onto the hill. There's a magnificent fairy thorn near the top of the last rough field - a great spot for a shady breather. Then it's a steep hike through mainly heather and a slightly precarious clamber over an ancient barbed wire fence. After that it's a matter of minutes to the ridge. The views are spectacular, particularly towards Inch Island and north to the Urris Hills. It also provides and almost aerial view of the still-expanding town of Buncrana.
Unfortunately at the end of our last descent we were accosted by a foul-mouthed local land owner who informed us in no uncertain terms that he owned 'everything on this hill from here to the sky!' It won't stop us risking a return though! Trackback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/944/comment/19970/
