Many Ways of Ascent.
by sandman 18 Apr 2017
Numerous options are available to you when deciding your ascent, I mention two. Option 1- which is the most direct park at IlnRoe S (L79680 61187) and through a gate surrounded by rhododendrons out on to open hill. Option 2 -park in a small lay-by at L Fee E (L80772 60833), even though you have to cross two run down fences you will be rewarded with better views and underfoot conditions on the ascent. You also get to visit the lower summit en-route. Although a small hill great views over Killary and across to Inishturk. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/920/comment/18884/

Excellent short hike
by dominic divilly 21 Oct 2024
Followed sandman`s option 2 last Saturday and it was a beautiful short hike tio the summit. On the way up we crossed a stile that is nearly gone and dangerous and coming down another stile broke on us. I am bringing some timber next Sunday to do a temporary repair on them. Followed the second option mentioned by sandman which was spot on. Just a comment that smaller hills like this and nearby Lettershanbally provide really good alternative hikes if there is low cloud cover on the bigger neighbouring mountains. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/920/comment/23532/
