Caher

The peak of Caher is accessible via a relatively easy walk from a lay by, about 1.5km above Kilcrohane. A large white statue and cross marks the saddle between Caher and the adjacent peak of Seefin. There is room here for several cars. Even from the lay by the views over Bantry Bay to the north and Dunmanus Bay to the south are impressive. Walking to the peak of Caher from here takes around 30 mins. The ascent is gradual and could be completed by anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. There are a few wet boggy patches but these can easily be avoided. On a clear day views from the peak can extend to Dursey Island and even over to the Iveragh Peninsula.
