Picture: Arthur and his masts
Turn off the R513 at Annaslinga crossroads and immediately take the first left .At the next junction A (R802 181) go left and after 50-100 meters look out for a small rough track on your right bounded by a bungalow on one side and a farmhouse and farmyard on the other at AnsLing (R80136 18166). Be aware, this is very easily missed. There is limited parking on left just up this track at AnsLing (R80079 18128). Walk through the barrier at B (R80015 18122) and just follow the forest path up to a group of masts. Hop a gate at C (R79122 17905) into farmland just past the masts and go right to reach the summit.
That JCB is there for some months now. its best to tuck in to the right of the passage as you go up. They'll be just about room to park and not block the access. Its certainly not a place to reverse back down!! Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/895/comment/15273/

have you got 20 minutes?

A very un-eventfull hill but has nice views to all the surrounding mountains. You are going to need Both OSI 73 and 74 as the hill is just located on the edges of both maps. Take the road from Mitchelstown to Galbally (R513). Just after the turn for Kilmallock (R517) take the small road to the left, follow this untill point A (R802 181) (OSI 74). Take a left up a small bohereen at this point (just before a turquoise coloured bungalow) be aware, this is very easily missed. There is ample parking on left just up this bohereen. Walk through the barrier and just follow the forest path up to a group of masts. The summit is a small bit further east (point 355 on OSI 73). the walk to the summit is a leisurely 20 minute stroll. Who needs 20 minutes?

Having an hour to spare en route to a meeting in Cork, I had intended to follow SBender's route up this hill. Driving up the narrow boreen, wondering where he had found to leave the car, before realising it I had driven straight through an open barrier - I fought with the conscience for a second or two, but.kept going nonetheless! Before the conscience started to gain the upper hand, I was at the mast compound. The photo shows the car, the mast compound and, through the bushes, the trig - 5 minutes there and back! Track Parking Blocked
by thomas_g

The mentioned parking at AnsLing (R80079 18128) isn't possible at the moment, there is a JCB placed so as to block access, not sure why, but it's not possible to gain access to park. It's very difficult to reverse down the hill as it's steep and gravelly, so best to park on the road someplace. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/895/comment/15272/
