From Inistioge, turn left at the road junction at S66946 41825 A ( sign post for Coppanagh). Take the next left (on a rough tarred road)passing a house on the right to a forest entrance , room for 2 cars.
From Graiguenamanagh take the R793 to Thomastown and turn left at the col of Coppanagh Gap. First right to start.

I followed the track uphill into the forest as far as S65255 43455 D and just beyond the apex of the bend I followed a rough track through a thinned area of forest out onto a track skirting the forest edge.I followed this track to its highest point and then entered the forest again. No longer with a "mystical mossy end" - the trees have been clear felled.
The trig pillar is still a little elusive though as several tree stumps masquerade as the trig pillar.
Parked at S65911 43051 E at an open area just beyond an open forest barrier and followed a good wide gravelled track which zig zagged up the hill.
At around S 65264 43444 B I left the gravelled track and headed west along a muddy path as far as S 65163 43399 C before heading NNW to the trig pillar which my GPS, on a misty day, said was at S 65106 43469 F..
Hard to discern the actual trig pillar among the tree stumps.

Climbed Friday 4/4/2014 in the Company of Binnion Champion Fergalh. started at S66105 43113 H. Followed good forest track uphill until progress was halted by many fallen trees, headed into forest on right for about 100mts to avoid these. Then went left uphill until a forest track higher up was encountered. Crossed this and headed into forest again crossed an old stone wall into a large area of moss covered trees, it took about 5 mins of searching to find the trig, but like an apparition it suddenly appeared in all its glory.
