To the Top via the Beara Way
by three5four0  10 Aug 2010
There is enough room to park a car, just off the minor road, and not block the track at V65907 46089 A. From here follow the Beara Way up hill along a good track, past the loop walk junction at V65190 46729 B (the old beara way) till another junction at V65053 47055 C. Now follow this bog track and then the Beara Way Markers up open hillside. Once the Beara Ways high point on the ridge is reached, leave the Way markers behind and climb up the South ridge leading to the summit of Miskish Mountain.

I would like to have commented on the stunning views from the summit, but it was mist down and raining heavily when we reached the top. Also worth a visit is the stone circle, below Miskish Mountain, just off the minor road outside Castletownbere, at V66570 46243 D. No Spinal Tap this one!
