Picture: From the West
Go to the forest entrance at ColGn Sc (S22452 09704). there is room here for a few cars.
Walk down the forest track, crossing a ford and follow the track until you can see open ground.
Walk south along the edge of the forest and then uphill to the summit.
Three curious rusting milk churns stand guard nearby to 3 cairns.

I approached Bleantasour from Milk Hill, which is an easy 20 minute trot. As with Milk Hill, the summit has been burned recently, and (churns aside) is rather unremarkable save the nice views. I also spotted a fox out on a mission at 2.30 pm in the day. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/821/comment/4583/

Super valley, easy two-hour walk
by Pepe
11 Apr 2015
Bagged this as well as Milk Hill Easter 2015. Took Declan McGrath's advice in his "Guide to the Comeraghs" book and parked in Coumnagappul at a point on the other side of the mountain from "A". The road in is protected by modern gates with clear and concise instructions on each of them. Happily, they were all open so no opening/closing required. Saw no churns on either Milk Hill or Bleantasor but did get to the wooden cross. The remains of a solitary churn, the rusted top half, were near the fascinating stone cairns on Bleantasor. For such a small top it is littered with ancient remains. Worth a visit for the valley of Coumnagappul alone. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/821/comment/17921/

A quick one-two

I did this in conjunction with Milk Hill, which made for an enjoyable 2.5 hr relatively easy walk. See Milk Hill page for starting point. From Milk Hill summit head SSW for about 1.8km, mostly over shortish heather and long grass, the terrain boggy in places. From the col the ascent to Blentasour is a mere 35m. Two substantial cairns mark the otherwise unremarkable summit area, although they are not actually on the highest point, which is about 50 metres or less to the east. From summit turn NW for about 1.5km until you reach the tree line and follow it until you reach the track to the west. Good views from Knockmealdowns and Comeraghs from top.
