Mid point in a circular walk along the W rim of the Comeragh Plateau
by Harry Goodman  28 Jul 2011
Climbed Coumfea on Sat 28 May 2011 as part of a circuit which also included Coumfea W Top and Coumea N Top (For earlier part of route see my comments on Copumfea west Top.) From Coumfea W Top we headed SE along the plateau rim towards a check point S2910009100 starE which I had included in case we encountered misty conditions and to enable us to then go ENE to Coumfea summit S2952809752 starF. As it happened, given clear conditions we did not need the check point and were able to stay close to the rim for a delightful walk of over 1km around and far above Coumlocha before going into the broad, flat and peat hagged summit area in search of the high point. We had fine views back NW around the plateau rim to Coumfea W Top and NE to Coumfea N Top as well as a view E across the moorland to the Comeragh high point of Fauscoum. After a short break we continued down N across the broad and boggy moorland towards Coumfea N Top. Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/81/comment/6440/
