Summary for Taurbeg (Teamhair Bheag): Through a windfarm
Summary created by jackill 30 Aug, 2010
Park at the access road entrance at A (R22980 12235) room here for 5-6 cars .Go through the gate and uphill past the windfarm office and then around to the summit. The summit is a raised area of bog very near the most southerly windmill. I did not have any access problems but If you don't want to walk past the windfarm office then you will notice a slightly overgrown forest road just across the river from the access road entrance which will bring you out onto the windfarm road very near the summit.

Access via the trees
by thomas_g 9 Aug 2013
The main gate now has a big no access sign, so access via the forest path mentioned above. This path is very overgrown, but passible (just), it brings you out by turbine 9, then an easy walk from there to the summit mostly by tracks.
Don't try to walk from here to Taur as the way is almost impassible due to rough ground / trees: I did and gave up. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/804/comment/15060/

Taurbeg windfarm caused much debate during and after its construction. Residents claimed sleepless nights from the noise of the turbines and disruption to telephone and television signals.Access to the summit is made easy by the access road at A (R22980 12235) where you could park a small aircraft carrier, although if you don't want to walk past the windfarm office then you will notice a slightly overgrown forest road just across the river which will bring you out onto the windfarm road very near the summit. The summit is a raised area of bog very near the most southerly windmill. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/804/comment/4416/
