Rubbish on the ascent.

Discreetly nestled in the forest as you make your way to this top from the Knockanroe Forest Recreation Area is some unattractive dumping. Of course some might see the dumping as an Artistic Statement highlighting man's Despoilation of Nature. Take for example the lugubrious but magnificent armchair. Careful selection of colour, coupled with a sophisticated appreciation of the weathering effect of moss has made this seem to naturally fit but still say something profound about Despoilation.

Seriously though this mess at Coillte Knockanroe (R8445 6938) is visible from the parking area and I have reported it to the EPA, who have allocated it reference number 10378. I would be interested to hear from future reports whether this is cleared. I rang the advertised 7 day a week EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) hotline at 1A (R850 365) 121 not expecting much to happen on an Easter Monday, but no my incipient grumpiness couldn't be justified because my call was answered immediately and efficiently.

May 2013. The armchair seems to have gone though not all the rubbish. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/785/comment/14959/

a two-minute top
by Colin Murphy 17 Oct 2022
The easiest top (or non-top, as it's not in any lists) you will ever do. Literally 2 minutes from car. Decent views toward Keeper but little else to recommend it. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/785/comment/23707/

csd on Silvermine Mountains Far East Top

Although only 200m from the road, the summit doesn't really warrant a longer trip up: any more effort and you'd be feeling cheated! The top is at the junction of two tracks; pretty uninspiring! Better to use it as a starting point for a traverse of the Silvermines ridge. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/785/comment/3446/

Easy walking

Cheated you were csd, on a fairly clear snowy day the view towards Knockane and Keeper hill are a good reward for a small effort, even if the immediate surroundings are not all that inspiring. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/785/comment/3638/
