Windy Summit
by Aidy  27 Dec 2016
First summit on an attempt at the Coomloughra Horseshoe after a failed attempt earlier in the year. The first time, I'd started round in the opposite direction but didn't even achieve one summit as I was practically blown and washed down off Caher. I might have pushed on despite horrendous conditions but zero visibility in thick cloud made me feel there wasn't much point. A long drive from Tyrone to Kerry was wasted. This time, the wind was worse if anything, but it was dry and the summits were cloud free. The wind on Cnoc Iochtair was strong enough to knock me off my feet three times, and blow a wooly hat off my head - something I've never had happen before!
