Park on the roadside at Healy HP (V78988 54510), room for 2 cars. Cross the bridge and head north west uphill to the summit.
Climbing the easy ridge from the Healy Pass this view opens up to the north.
Stokeennalackareha is closest, then Knockastumpa with Knockatee to the left and Knockanoughanish to the right.
The Healy pass road was built in 1847 as a famine relief project. Originally know as "Bealach Scairt" (way of the sheltered caves), it was dedicated to the memory of local man Tim Healy, first Governor General of Ireland, after his death in 1931. At the top of the pass is a stone known as the Flat Rock. Coffins were rested here as funeral processions made their way uphill from one county to be met by those from the other county who would carry the corpse down the other side. Bagged this one on route to Knockowen. Satisfying climb from the Coolcrean Bridge on the Healy Pass before heading East for the higher top. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/773/comment/3993/

Rather than track all the way back from Healy Pass car park, there is room for one car to park directly to the west of Stokeennalackareha at point A (V786 546). From here it's a steep but doable climb up the quite interesting, rocky mountain. 40 minutes from car to top. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/773/comment/4039/

A fantastic promontory over Glanmore Lough
by David-Guenot

Stookeennalackareha was the last top of a five-summit circular walk which also included Knockowen, Cushnaficulla, Knockeirky and Glenkeel Top (see previous comments on this walk). Walked down Knockowen and its cloudy top and my last target of the day appeared below me, bathed in a shower of sunbeams that were peering out of the clouds, proudly facing the massive outline of Lackabane. The descent is not very steep from this side, and the soft and relatively dry ground made it easy for the knees. There is a flat, boggy area before the final 3-5 minute pull-up to the top. There is a sheer drop on the W side, so care would be required on a windy day. The views are rewarding, with the triangular shapes of Knockastumpa, Knockatee and Knockanoughanish to the N, Kenmare River and the Dunkerron to the NW, Glanmore Lough, Tooth Mountain and Lackabane to the W/SW, and the W slopes of Knockowen to the E.
The 10-15 minute descent to the Healy Pass road required much more care as the previous one, as it is steeper and a bit slippery in some places. Descended along the small stream in the centre of the pic and reached the road near the bridge described by Jackill. It was then another 10-15 minute walk up the road to the car/Pass. A fantastic, unforgettable round trip of about 7 hours. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/773/comment/16015/
