A battle which took place at the foot of this mountain is mentioned in the Annals of the Four Masters under the year 1585. Previously Benbo 1 in MV.   Benbo is the 871st highest place in Ireland.

New gate

There is a new metal gate replacing the pallet mentioned in the other comments. It's not locked though just tied with string. Also, after crossing the fence at the top of the field and turning right onto the track there is a panel of metal mesh acting as a gate also tied with string.
