I think the best approach is from the village of Askamore to the north. At just under an hour it takes a little longer to reach the top but the roads to Askamore are better than the bumpy narrow road to the southern approach and there's a very large parking area in the heart of the village. Askamore is well signposted from Cranford on the Gorey Carnew road. There's a good map of the route to the summit by the parking area. From the village go past the church on your left and up the obvious track. After 25 minutes or so you come to a crossroads at the end of a steep climb. Turn right here and keep left at the fork after 100 yards. After another 10 minutes turn right onto a track that climbs steeply. Then you lose some height but it soon switchbacks to the left to take you to the summit. To the north I could make out the triangular shape of Croghanmoira beyond Croghan. The Blackstairs dominate the view to the south and I could just make out the speck that was the town of Bunclody nestled beneath them. Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/739/comment/6516/
