Picture: Little Mullagh Glas like a pimple on the side of Big Mullagh Glas
Mullach Glas NE Top (Cruiscin) will probably never be climbed in its own right and will most likely always be a stop on the way to or from Corcogemore and Mullagh Glas. It is situated almost in the col between its two massive neighbours. One approach is from Corcogemore. As you descend from around A (L94800 49700), you should pick up a fence which will lead you straight to the foot of Mullach Glas NE Top. There is a cairn near the top, though the actual highest point is about 30 metres away to the south. There is a good view south down the valley to Shannavara hill, and some of the myriad of lakes that dot the area south of the N59.
Like Wee Binnion in the Mourne Mountains, Cruiscìn is nought but a pimple on the side of its parent mountain. This photo, taken from the south, shows Cruiscìn as a little lump sticking out from the lower right hand side of Mullagh Glas. (Cruiscìn just above pole at right of photo).
Not so obvious in the photo is the rather interesting position Cruiscìn holds, situated just above the col between Corcogemore and Mullagh Glas. If approaching from Corcogemore, there is a 200 metre haul up Mullagh Glas from Cruiscìn, along a steep narrow trail. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/681/comment/5858/

A natural stop on the way to its bigger brother, Mullach Glas, although this top only seemed to drop about 17m to the west, according to my GPS. There is a cairn near the top, though as is often the case for some strange reason it is not at the actual highest point, which is about 30 metres away, as can be seen in shot. As Colin Murphy notes, this one's a no-brainer on the way up to the main top of Mullach Glas. The photo shows the view from B (L948 497), which is where I'd suggest approaching from if coming from Corcóg. As you descend from this viewpoint, you should pick up a fence (barely visible in the photo) which will lead you straight to the foot of Cruiscín. As you can see, poor little Cruiscín is almost completely overshadowed by its bigger brother, Mullach Glas, looming behind! Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/681/comment/4436/

Trying to make Cruiscin look impressive...

Here is Cruiscin from a different angle, which clearly shows the two different sides. The W slopes are steep and rocky and can offer a minute or two of light scrambling, while the E slopes are much more gentle. A tiny hump between two giants, but a nice spot to sit on and enjoy the views, and only a few minutes' diversion from the "main route". Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/681/comment/18563/
