Not worth a trip on its own but a nice addition to Shehy More
by thomas_g  8 May 2012
Accessed from Shehy More, it's an easy walk over to Shehy More SW by following the fence along the ridge. I did find the going easier on the south side of the fence (which you must cross to get to Shehy More top anyway).
There appears to be a farm track that goes all the way to W145 597 starA (the dip between Shehy More and Shehy SW), which would be an easy route up (with permission from the farmer).
From a distance Shehy SW looks narrow and sharp, but it's neither once you're up close. The location of the top is a little indistinct, with no markings, but it seems to be a fairly obvious tussock on the south side of the fence. There appears to be a farm track that skirts the west of the forestry to the north of Shehy SW, this is a possible easy access (again with permission).
From Shehy SW, I headed back towards the west short of Lough Nambrackderg. I suggest you stay fairly high here as it's very boggy on the NW slope of Shehy More. Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/661/comment/6793/
