Not worth a trip on its own but a nice addition to Shehy More

Accessed from Shehy More, it's an easy walk over to Shehy More SW by following the fence along the ridge. I did find the going easier on the south side of the fence (which you must cross to get to Shehy More top anyway).
There appears to be a farm track that goes all the way to A (W145 597) (the dip between Shehy More and Shehy SW), which would be an easy route up (with permission from the farmer).
From a distance Shehy SW looks narrow and sharp, but it's neither once you're up close. The location of the top is a little indistinct, with no markings, but it seems to be a fairly obvious tussock on the south side of the fence. There appears to be a farm track that skirts the west of the forestry to the north of Shehy SW, this is a possible easy access (again with permission).
From Shehy SW, I headed back towards the west short of Lough Nambrackderg. I suggest you stay fairly high here as it's very boggy on the NW slope of Shehy More. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/661/comment/6793/

Cousane Gap approach
by conorb
19 Apr 2021
Parked near the excellent information sign at the Cousane Gap and then picked up a lovely boreen heading NW on the Bantry side of the Gap.
Unfortunately, there was a lot of fly tipping in the wood by the boreen for a few hundred meters that ruined the first part of our run. Dropped down to a little bridge, then took a boreen heading NE and the mountain came into view.
Just before a farmyard, we picked up a track and we were on the mountain. It was fairly straightforward to pick a line towards the ridge and from there we followed a fence until we got to the top. It's fairly flat along the top ridge so we kept an eye on our watches until we got the best candidate for the peak. We then crossed the fence and eventually picked up a track that brought us down to the R585.
Overall a nice loop despite the fly-tipping and I don't think it would be too difficult to bag the main Shehy Mór top from this side either. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/661/comment/22936/
