Summary for Coomclogherane Top (Cnoc Chom Clocharáin): Nice views of the lake

Picture: Grassy summit with Knockbrack South to the north west
A relatively featureless top with nice views over the lake and the steep slopes of Gullaba Hill. Access is from Knockbrack S to the NW, via Coomclogherane to the east and Knocknamanagh to the south. Access from the west is possible too, but it would be fairly boggy going.
Best access is probably from the farm at A (V987 692), where with permission from the very friendly farmer, you can follow the track to the lake and then up to the top. (Be warned conversations with the granny who lives at the farm will result in a cup of tea whether you want it or not: old style Irish hospitality).

Nice perch over Lough Coomclogherane

I walked with minimal difficulty along the ridge from Knockbrack south top with fine views of Kenmare River and associated peaks and looking forward to the views of the nearby lake from the peak. I was well rewarded and besides that there were a couple of interesting jumbles of rocky tors near the summit that made for brief but fun scrambles. As you can see from zooming in on the MV map above there's a track running close to the southern col of this summit...it's not as distinctive ars the track on Knockbrack South Top but it could be another access point from the farm below. 10 mins from the south top of K.
