We drove as if heading to the Liam Lynch Memorial, near Goatenbridge. At the T junction beside the barrier (on the left) we parked and took the right branch of the T which went left 50 m or so down. The road followed the river through a very attractive valley until we came to another right turn with two bridges. Just after the bridges is a short hill and a sharp turn to the left (lot of litter at the turn) From the apex of this turn is a firebreak that cuts straight up to the mountain, though you need to come around the turn and double back through the trees to get to it. This is a hard enough pull but get's you onto the side of Roche's hill handy enough. From there it is a tough walk that gets steadily steeper as you approach the summit of Knockmoylan. Trackback:
