The cliffs of Minaun are spectacular when viewed from Keel. They offer a popular launch site for hang-gliding. The summit is a magnificent viewpoint, giving a surprisingly broad view of all of Achill and much of West Mayo, considering its moderate height. For a walk to the TV mast on Minaun, see Siúlóidí Acla, walk K. The summit is a little further on. Sometimes spelt Menawn.   Minaun is the 676th highest place in Ireland.

Fabulous scenery featuring one of Ireland's best scenic views.

It's often hard to encapsulate such breathtaking coastal scenery in the west of Ireland. Sometimes it is nice to do a relatively easy walk and be amply reward through a series of picture-postcard settings. What a view looking over towards Keel Strand, Keem Beach, Croaghaun and Slievemore Mountain. I had the binoculars and enjoyed unrivalled views of Slievemore Deserted Village at the foot of Slievemore Mountain. I did walk over to the statue of the Virgin Mary (Barr an Mhionnáin) as it's on an elevated path and presents better photo opportunities It takes about 10-minutes over the gravel trail. I will say, the particular view from the statue is astounding. This is the ideal trail for anybody of any age looking for that "WOW" factor without having to exert themselves too much.
