On the way to Mangerton
by MountainHunter  24 Apr 2019
I started at Point A car park and followed the path. At about 520m (-9.4817 51.9882) the path swings westward, as you walk along the path, the coum for the Devil's Punchbowl comes into view. After crossing a stream at 560m V 97785 82380 starA the path forks, I turned left here and walked alongside a boggy path toward the north side of the punchbowl. Reaching the punchbowl I walked eastward along a path until I reached the edge of the coum overlooking Lough Erhogh which presents a stunning vista. After soaking up the views, I turned left again heading northward to the short climb to Mangerton North Top. A path leads the way to the top, the summit has a cairn atop, from here there are fantastic views in all directions. The route to the punchbowl seems to be a local tourist attraction, as I met many people walking here, wearing trainers and regular clothes without any typical hiking gear.
