Shure when your up there already

On a fine summers evening we drove up the Mealagh Valley to the double gateway marked A by jackhill. It is a straightforward walk to the top on a track. There you will be rewarded with what is probably the best view of the Shehy Mountains.
Doughill, Douce and Shehy Mór to your North and the three Nowen Hill Tops along with Mullaghmesha to your south. On a fine evening, it was also possible to see the sun sinking between Mizen, Sheep's Head and Beara peninsulas in the distance.
There are two fences running along the saddle, we picked the northerly one and followed it nearly all the way to the West Top. It's a bit soft underfoot but not bad. The West top isn't as well defined and probably not worth a trip on it's own "but shure when your up there already, you might as well do it".
From the West top we dropped back down to the tree-line and pick up the track that took us back to our starting point. According to my Strava file, it took 2 hours on the button with 7.4km of walking in total. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/551/comment/20630/
