Picture: View from Torc to the east.
Torc West Top is usually done in conjunction with Torc itself, especially as it is a relatively easy 15 minute walk between the two. Park in the upper car park , Killarney Hiking Parking Lot (V96686 84235) (Point A), room for many cars. Head south west along the scenic old Kenmare road. Turn off the road at approximately A (V95830 82990) (Point B) where you see the sign in picture onto a well-defined stone track interspersed with lengthy areas of boardwalk which makes the going fairly ok. From car park to Torc - Torc W Top and back to car will take 3 hours ate a leisurely pace.

Irelands largest wild animal
by Colin Murphy 3 Oct 2014
Torc West Top is unmarked by a cairn or other prominence. However it is a fairly well-defined grassy mound with great views over the lakes of Killarney and towards Torc mountain itself. On my descent I stumbled upon (almost literally) a small group of Red Deer. Luckily they didn't flee too far before I could get a snap. Strikingly large and beautiful animals close up. Apparently they are Ireland's largest wild animal, or so I read. Having come within about 10 metres of them, I can't disagree with that. The larger animal in the shot came almost to my shoulder. Harry Goodman on Torc Mountain West Top
by Harry Goodman 9 Sep 2009
I went out to this top with two friends from the path up Torc Mt (7 Sept. 09). Apart from the fact that it took us a little longer than the 20 minutes out and back suggested by Conor74 I have no comments to add to those made by him and simply want to include a picture for the site. We included this top on a walk up Torc Mt. and found the scenery in all directions splendid, especially after a week-end of walking on the higher tops in stormy, wet conditions with no visability. Well worth the visit. Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/550/comment/4086/

A small top, but worth while for the views.
by three5four0 6 Oct 2011
Only a short diversion from the Torc path, yet only 27 out of the 222 that have logged Torc Mountain, took in its west top as well. And as Harry Goodman says, the views are good, so there is no reason not to visit this poor neglected top! Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/550/comment/6575/
