Bedrock type: Sandstone and siltstone, (Gortanimill Formation)

This peak is on the eastern flank of Céim an Fhia / Keimaneigh. The form Diúchoill is given on the OSi Discovery map, seemingly based on one local source, but it is unclear what this would mean. There is a townland named Dúchoill / Doughill in the parish of Kenmare, and this form has been preferred here.   Dúchoill is the 663rd highest place in Ireland.

Approach from the west
Short Summary created by Colin Murphy  20 Sep 2024
Often done in conjunction with Douce, Doughill may also be done in isolation. One approach starts at the memorial commemorating the Battle of Keimaneigh in 1822, at W10318 63125 starA, where there is parking for several cars. Walk south along the road for about 200m to a gate on left, cross this and proceed up the farm track for about 400m. When this ends at around W10502 62971 starB, it is possible to link up with a much better track about 100m away – unfortunately through long grass and some low gorse for about 5 minutes. Follow this more substantive track to within about 250m of the summit, which is on quite a prominent area of grass and rock and is marked by a small cairn of sorts. Allow 90 minutes up and down.
