Great views, straightforward walk
by skhg  13 Jul 2017
We parked at the small car park at R81980 18545 starA and over Benard before following the forest tracks to R 83300 20170 starB and R83795 20221 starC. Just above that is an interesting rocky area with various well-constructed cairns. There's a very easy walk up along the ridge to the summit, with only a few mildly boggy sections. The Galtees dominate the scene to the east, and several other ranges are visible to the E, SE and SW. Well worth it for a day out and perfectly accessible other than one fence-hop to get out of the forest. Unfortunately there was no sign of the visitors book mentioned by Harry Goodman, although we did search a bit. Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/54/comment/19604/
