Wonderful summit and breathtaking scenery
Short Summary created by Colin Murphy  30 May 2016
Parking for 2/3 cars next to a bridge over the Owengarr River at point L842 652 starA, just to the south of Fin Lough. Cross the bridge to a lane leading up to a farmhouse, This farmhouse has previously been described as deserted but seems to be occupied now, and access along this lane is uncertain. Instead, just across the cattle grid at the start of the lane there is an opening into a field, and access may be made via this. Cross the field and hummock and you will come to a rocky part of the river where you can cross easily enough. From there turn NW and continue for 1.5km. The terrain on the lower slopes is quite difficult - long grasses, reeds and spongy in late May. Eventually this eases around 200m elevation. Ascent is steep but not overly so. Reach the eastern spur around point L832 671 starB. Turn west for 1km then veer SWW for a further 8oom to reach the summit, which is marked by a pile of stones. Allow almost 3 hours from car to summit. Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/51/comment/4811/
