The Slieve Blooms are not the most photogenic hills in Ireland - and that's putting it mildly. But I was lucky the day I did Capard as there had been overnight snow and frost, which completely altered the otherwise mediocre landscape (apologies to Offaly/Laois folk!) and I enjoyed a couple of hours traversing the briefly magical terrain.
