First Top on the way to Ireland's Highest
Short Summary created by Harry Goodman,  13 Dec 2011
Park off road near V77150 87050 A and walk up the Hydro Road leading up to Loch Iochtair V777 856 B. From the NW end of the Loch go S over Pt. 442 to gain the NW spur V776 852 C of Cahir West Top. Turn up left (SE) for 1.7k to gain the top. On the way up, initially over tussocky grass and then stoney ground, veer to the left side of the spur for fine views down into the Coomloughra Glen and across to the Beenkeragh Ridge from Carrauntoohil to Beenkeragh. Descend by way of ascent. Indeed, while there, many walkers decide to press on a little further to Cahir top proper and maybe even to Carrauntoohil.
