Mount Leinster is not the highest peak in the province of Leinster. That distinction belongs to Lugnaquillia, but Mount Leinster is the highest outside Wicklow. Due to the transmitter mast, there is a road to the top. There is also a substantial cairn on summit. On the saddle connecting to Slievebawn is a stone alignment called the Nine Stones (though there are actually ten).   Mount Leinster is the highest mountain in the Blackstairs Mountains area and the 45th highest in Ireland. Mount Leinster is the highest point in county Carlow and also the highest in Wexford.

New Comment: Private land blocks access from west
by dmisstear  29 May 2019
We decided to take the route up from Rathanna Bridge at the weekend. Unfortunately, at the end of the forest track is farmland with a “Private, No Entry” sign. With no other obvious route around the fields, we had to turn back and walk up from the 9 Stones car park instead (note: no dogs allowed on access road). Will hopefully be able to try the route up from the east next time. Lovely views at summit. Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/44/comment/20539/
