This peak can be approached from all sides, but the southern & western side are the most accessible, both of which can be accessed from the Kerry Way at Gowlane. Access is also possible from the green road which passes Cummeenslaun Lake on the NE. The N face is very steep, and probably best approached from the Lough Nagannee side (NW). The easiest decent is via the south where you can handrail a fence.
Fine views in all directions await you, but do be aware that the summit plateau is flat and very wet in winter.
The most accessible approach to Knockanaguish is via the Kerry Way from the south which is what we did on a very warm Friday afternoon. Starting from a T-junction in the townland of Gowlane Gowlane School Ruin (V917 752) we ascended on the Kerry Way track until we drew abreast of Knockanaguish on our right. A grassy ramp is easily visible through the crags and steeper ground. Much sweating later we ignored a false top (complete with misleading pile of stones) and continued on NE for a few minutes to the true summit knoll.
Our descent was down a grassy gully heading towards Lough Nagannee which might not be the safest option in winter. On reaching more level ground it was a straightforward walk west to the Kerry Way where we paused to mop our brows before continuing on to Peakeen. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/436/comment/2746/

Started out by the derelict church at Galway's Bridge DrCunn Ch (V914 803) with the plan to do a loop walk taking in
Knockanaguish, Knockrower and Shaking Rock. It's a bit further from this side as opposed to the Kenmare side, but
more scenic. The walk south along the Old Kenmare Road is nice and gentle and a good warm up to the 331 height
between Peakeen and Knockanaguish. Should take about 45-60 mins. Hopped the fence and made the gradual climb up the
grassy slopes to Lough Nagannee. From here you can take the direct route up the obvious gully, follow the fence, or
like me wuss out and take the slightly less steep slopes round the NW side. I descended by retracing my steps a bit
before heading NE down to Cummeenslaun Lake and joing up with the old green road heading N. The more adventurous
Nice simple walk out of Galways Bridge befre turning east at ridge and making it to Lough Nannanee. Straight up the gully which was wet and slippery and not very thrilling. Once at the top a simple walk to summit. Very misty so no view, paced back to the tiny Lough Cummeenagross for lunch. Head out the spur a bit then turn back north and countour round to ridge so as not to lose too much height thern rejoin track and back to car. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/436/comment/15087/
