The association with Fionn Mac Cumhaill is reinforced by the fact that Seefin Mountain overlooks a valley named after his son: Glenosheen (Ir. Gleann Oisín, 'valley of Oisín').   Seefin Mountain West Top is the highest mountain in the Ballyhoura Mountains area and the 479th highest in Ireland.
