The name The Playbank relates to the festive assembly held on the mountain on the last Sunday of July, at which sports and dancing took place (Máire MacNeill, 'The Festival of Lughnasa' (pp. 181-82). Also called Carrignahasta.   The Playbank is the 437th highest place in Ireland.

On 6/9/08 Climbed slievenakilla on the first stage of the 18mile long Caslin Way which entails a full circuit of the mountains surrounding glangevlin valley.5 walkers out of 15 starters completed the walk.It was a beautiful autumn day with excellent views throughout the day.
