Bedrock type: Well-bedded grey sandstone, (Lough Acoose Sandstone Formation)

This peak overlooks Ballaghisheen (Ir. Bealach Oisín). The anglicisation Knocknacusha seems unrelated to Cnoc Osaidh and suggests an Irish form Cnoc na Coise.   Knocknacusha is the 430th highest place in Ireland.
