pplsgod on Brockagh Mountain, 2009
by pplsgod  26 Aug 2009
I climbed Brockagh Mountain on Sunday the 2nd August 2009, conditions were overcast but ideal for climbing. The ascent took approximately an hour and a further 35-40 minutes to descend. I parked in the carpark at the disused lead works site between the Wicklow gap and Laragh on the R756 (OSMap 56) I tried taking a direct route to the summit from the carpark but due to the amount of heather this was proving a difficult climb, so I backtracked to the start and then headed north before circling east to the summit, this by far was the easiest route to the top, still some heather and marsh in places but on the whole low level grassland. I then descended southeast off the mountain before turning west about half way down, the heather on the decent makes for good soft ground underfoot but care if needed. I will do this climb again but next time will continue onto Tonelagee from Brockagh. Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/346/comment/3990/
