It is the element -moughan- which is obscure in this case. The name appears on 16th century maps as Slew Mogh or just Mogh.   Slievemoughanmore is the 394th highest place in Ireland.

On my trek Slivemoughanmore was but a stage on the way to Shanlieve. The typical Mournes wall gives a direct route albeit unrelentingly uphill as shown in the photo up Slivemoughanmore from Pigeon Rock Mountain. Trackback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/344/comment/1979/
