Bedrock type: Purple mudstone & siltstone, (Valentia Slate Formation)

Unnamed on the Discovery map, this peak is immediately S of Slievenashaska Lough, the lake of the fiddle, so named from its shape. Coomnahorna appears to be the name of the coom SW of this peak. Ir. Com na hEorna means 'hollow of the barley'.   Coomnahorna is the 317th highest place in Ireland.

Watch out for the water.

The picture shows Coomnahorna to the left and Lough Slievenashaska. You can't get round the lough on its south side shown here. You probably can't get across the lough to its north side either, though I haven't personally tried. You can't easily contour round Coomnahorna over the lake. You may or may not be able to get down from the col shown from Coomnahorna to Slievenashaska S, but if you manage it, you could be stuck behind the lough.

And also, the stream leaving the lough was not readily crossable after heavy rain and this would cut off retreat routes downhill.
