The Uí Chinnsealaigh were the dominant Gaelic family in this area and the mountain gets the fuller version of its name from them. This helps to distinguish it from Croaghanmoira, which is a little further north.   Croghan Kinsella is the 273rd highest place in Ireland.

Looking for a change from the Blackstairs I travelled up to Croghan Kinsella, having looked at this hill every day on the way to work it seemed a good idea to climb it.Following the road from Inch to Coolgreaney where I took a left turn and followed the road to Ballyfad turning right at the church, followed this road to the next fork junction where I again took a right turn, the start point is about a half mile up this road at the White Heaps marked by a 1798 memorial where there is plenty of parking.Following the forest road to the next main junction after a downhill section I stayed left.Following this road to the end, quite a number of deer to be seen,I crossed over a fence and small stream and followed a quad bike track up to the summit. The ground been quite boggy and wet made for a tough slog up.Views from the summit are excellent North towards the Wicklow mountains and Arklow and South towards the Blackstairs. For the trip back down I followed the main track down as previously described on this site which brought me back to the start point.Time taken was one hour forty four minutes over a distance of 8 km.
