There's an exhilirating steep climb on good grassy terrain if you start to the south of Lough Barfinnihy. Park at approx V84986 76034 A, cross an easy fence and just go for it! It's a steep ascent but the going is good. Head due west until you reach the obvious S-N ridge and if you're fit you'll be up top in well under an hour. There's the potential for some easy scrambling and also if you veer right fine views of the lake will open up. When at the summit drop a little to the east for some magnificent views of the lake 350m below.
I decided to do a small loop so dropped down to the north on steep but manageable ground aiming due North for much of the way but swinging east towards the road after about 1km. From there it was a little less than 2km back to the car. It took me 90 mins but, having dropped off in fitness since then, i'd be pencilling in 2 hours at this stage!
