After reaching the summit of Carrauntoohil we decided not to descend by the devils ladder. We met an experienced climber who was heading over to Beenkeragh and he agreed to guide us across the ridge. He knew the best way over it, and we would have found it very daunting without his help so cheers to John! Doing it though is smply exhilarating, what with the views and a fair sense of danger!. After summiting Beenkeragh we left to descend by Knockbrinnea back to the car at Cronins. The OS map suggested a nice gradual descent but we were in for a nasty shock. All the way down to the glen the the mountain is almost completely boulder strewn with very few grassy bits. Its certainly ankle breaking territory and certainly requires your full concentration, which isn't easy when your tired and hungry. And so we contined to Knockbrinnea.
