This is a lower top just 600m W of Croaghaun itself. A little caution is required on the summit in poor visibility due to the precipice to the N. Offshore winds, which can blow walks towards or even over the cliffs, are not unknown here.   Croaghaun SW Top is the third highest mountain in the Achill/Corraun area and the 171st highest in Ireland. Croaghaun SW Top is the second most westerly summit in the Achill/Corraun area.

Highest sea cliffs in Europe?
by TommyV  31 Oct 2018
This walk starts by following a road from the entrance to Lough Acorrymore at F58150 04429 A. Keeping to the right of the lake, it's possible to ascend the spur which then reveals the splendor of what's to come for the rest of the hike. Amazing views following the cliff line over to the summit of Croaghaun and then onto Croaghan West Top. A very step descent to the valley below awaits. Once there it's possible to extend the walk and follow the smaller cliffs along Benmore over to Moyteoge Head before dropping down to Keem Strand and a well earned dip in the sea. (Well the feet anyway). Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/166/comment/20126/
