Having done Slievemore in the morning, I set off from the beach car park at Keem for Croaghaun SW Top on the way to Croaghaun. I went north west straight for the top, as having been up Slievemore already, I wasn't sure I'd have the legs for Benmore too. I thought I could do it on the way back if I had the energy (I didn't! - another time). Seemed boggier than Slievemore but the views were great on the way up, down on Keem beach and over to Minaun. Unfortunately, near the top, clouds rolled in and I had no views from the summit. It was an odd, almost eerie place to be in the thick cloud, with the sound of the unseen sea far below and hidden but clearly steep drops all around. Despite the lack of views I went on to Croaghaun, and luckily the cloud cleard for long enough to get a look at the spectacular scenery from there, not least at this impressive looking spike.
