Bedrock type: Cross-bedded sandstone, (Coumeenoole Sandstone Formation)

This peak is actually higher than the top marked as Slievanea. Its steep cliffs plunge down to Loch Chom Calláin. Previously Coumanare Mtn in MV.   Sliabh Mhacha Ré (mullach thoir thuaidh) is the third highest mountain in the Central Dingle area and the 160th highest in Ireland.
