Kindlestown woods are very popular with walkers and especially dog walkers. There is ample parking in the Kindlestown Woods car park at
A (O26843 12362). From there, a variety of tracks lead through the mature forest, allowing numerous options for a short and undemanding looped walk taking in the summit. The car park is at around 175 m, so there is very little ascent to the summit. Ground is firm underfoot but the surface can be muddy in places.
Arriving at the summit and emerging from the trees, the views open out impressively across the Irish Sea, Bray Head, Dublin Bay and north to Howth, Lambay and the Mournes. At the time of our visit, the Welsh mountains were very distinctly visible.
The high point, as best we could make out, is on or near the path, immediately in front of the fenced communication mast compound, at approximately
B (O27107 12594). Both the OS and the East-West map mark the summit about 50 metres north of the track, behind the compound, but visually this does not seem to be the case as the ground appears to slope down to the north behind the compound.
Total distance 1.5 km, time 25 minutes.
