You can also park at Derrycunnihy church V91386 80277 starB and follow the Kerry Way from there to Esknamucky Glen and ascend from the copse I mentioned in my other comment. Being in the national park it's open countryside around here with no fences so you can ascend from any point that takes your fancy along the Kerry Way.
