Overlooks the Spelga Dam and the Deer's Meadow, the source of the River Bann. It is surprising to think that this river rises less than 10 miles from the coast near Newcastle, and yet it empties into the sea near Coleraine.   Slieve Muck is the 162nd highest place in Ireland.

Not brave enough yet to tackle this climb from Banns road or indeed up the off shoot of Batts wall from above the Spelga Dam, I remain faithful to my favoured easy route up the Ott track and following the wall over Carn Mountain to the summit, returning via the steep descent along the afore mentioned wall to the road. Picture shows Slieve Muck on a nice autumnal afternoon seemingly inviting us to climb it! The steep pull along the wall can easily be seen here.
